Welcome to WInspector
Advanced shearography kit and a robotic deployment platform for on-site inspection of wind turbine blades
Welcome

About the project

Aiming at improving current available wind turbine blade (WTB) inspection methods, Winspector is a European Union’s Horizon 2020 funded project that focuses on the development of a robotic platform for advance non-destructive testing (NDT) to in-situ blade defect detection. The use of Shearography, one of the best techniques for subsurface defect detection on composite materials, as the advance NDT method makes this system unique and highly disruptive, with the potential to change WTB inspection as we know it today. Some of the main advantages of this system include:

Automated Inspection, resulting in a safer (no need for humans working at heights), and more consistent examination of WTB

Sub-surface defect detection, which won’t be detected by visual inspection, resulting in the potential critical defects to be detected at an early stage.
