Jianxin Gao (TWI) attended a workshop “The Wind Energy Sector a European Challenge” in Barcelona, 21-22 November 2016. He presented the R&D work in the previous DashWin project on wind turbine blade inspection on site using shearography with a robotic deployment platform. One of the conclusions from the workshop is that, among the whole supplier chains for the wind energy sector, proper techniques for maintenance and inspection are lacking. Hence more resources are needed to stimulate the R&D in this aspect, which will be recommended to the European Commission.
